Choice book report. characterization.

For my choice book report I read the book Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer. It’s the third book in the Twilight series. The main character is Bella Swan.

Bella Swan is one of the most dependent, self-centered people I have ever read about; but those characteristics make her who she is. Which a very interesting, unique person. In the book, she is always depending on her guy friends to keep her safe! She usually can’t keep herself safe unless she has someone else. Even her father Charlie isn’t enough protection for her. In the first two books, Bella was normal. This is because of all the girls that could relate to her. As the series went on, she became more and more attached to her boyfriend Edward Cullen. Which is good in some ways, but bad in others. She started spending all of her time with him; which made her lose some of her friends. Her life became revolved around the Cullens. Her best friend is Alice Cullen, Edwards sister. Another thing is, she is usually thinking about herself. It’s always the “me me me.” thoughts. She is one of those characters with no flaws. That is why Edward loves her. The Twilight series is definitely no where near reality.

Bella is very different from all the other characters in the book. She is always thinking about danger. I mean sure, she is being chased by an evil vampire (Victoria) trying to kill her; but have some fun! Life isn’t all about worries and problems. Most of the characters in the book love their lives. They do tremble in fear every once in a while, but most of the time they’re out having fun with their friends. Also, in Eclipse Bella spends most of her time asking Edward to change her into a vampire. She is madly in love with him, and wants to spend all of her life with him. Vampires do not age, so if she is one of them she can spend eternity with him. The problem is, when you become a vampire you’re soul is taken away. Edward tells her that it is the most painful, most horrible thing you could ever go through; not having a soul. Bella isn’t convinced. She still believes Edward has a soul. She is trapped in this flawless, perfect world. She thinks everything is always going to end up right, and amazing. She can’t just assume everything will go all willy-nilly. Therefore, Bella can be as sweet as pie, but as confusing and self-centered as anyone. That is what I think of Isabella Swan. Your opinion may not match mine, but everyone’s different!
